Should my website be mobile friendly?
The answer to the title is simply yes! All websites should be mobile friendly and it should easily allow for a searcher to navigate through your website on any smartphone out there! Denver Media Group is a marketing agency that works on custom website designs and developments, so we kind of spend a great deal of time working and speaking with clients, customers and potential clients.
Your website should be mobile friendly, and if it is not, you are missing out on possible leads and sales! (When we say it like that, most companies immediately want to fix it!)
In the last couple of years, mobile search has skyrocketed with more search queries being conducted on smartphones than desktops! This was a first for search engines and agencies alike! Only 50 percent of websites are responsive and work for all devices! There are 1.5 Billion websites on search engines and about 50 percent are responsive.
Here is why companies should invest in a mobile friendly website in 2020!
1. Customers matter
A company needs to stay competitive in its industry to keep their customers happy and if customers are not happy they will find a different company to do business with. Over 57 percent of all website traffic is done on a mobile device. How does a company know where the website traffic is coming? One place is Google Analytics. This tells a company where the bulk of their website traffic is coming from not only mobile devices but what search engines!
Not all industries will have a high mobile search session and that is okay! Not all industries will be the same and this is important for a company to understand. Yes, you need a mobile friendly website, but some industries have it just to be safe!
2. Be competitive
There are over 1.5 billion websites out there which give consumers a billion different options when it comes to finding a company who they will conduct business with. As a company, you understand that you offer the best services or products in your industry, but if another competitor has that bit of an edge on you, game over. Don’t be the digital dinosaur with an old website.
3. SEO
The second most critical point of all of this is for SEO Google wants you to have a mobile friendly website. Google declared in 2016 it would crawl the mobile version of a website before the desktop version. This means a website that is not mobile friendly will be crawled second versus a mobile friendly one.
Google takes the ranking from the mobile version, not the desktop version. So, if you have a beautiful website, make sure it is mobile friendly! Any Webmaster will tell you that when Google says to jump you say, “how high?” With Google being the largest search engine out there, it is important to make sure a company is following Google Guidelines!
4. Build credibility
What’s the first thing a consumer does the moment they land on your website? Make their first impressions. Whether it is a good one or bad one depends on the company’s website. It is estimated that 75 percent of consumers judge a business’s credibility by the design of its website.
And guess what, part of this overall design deals with making sure the website formats correctly on mobile devices!
The moral of the story here: A mobile friendly website in 2020 is not a want but a necessity for all companies out there.
